Save West Hampstead “Stop the Blocks!” is a fast-growing group of West Hampstead residents fighting the sale by Camden Council of publicly owned land at 156 West End Lane. We are also fighting an over-development proposal for the site put forward by "housing provider" A2 Dominion.
Without any form of prior consultation Lymington Road residents, whose homes and gardens are inside the West End Green Conservation Area, found themselves unwittingly on the front-line of redevelopment proposals literally in their back yards. Residents whose homes and gardens adjoin the Travis Perkins builders' yard organised a grass-roots community campaign to fight Camden Council's short-sighted selling-off of publicly owned assets and A2 Dominion's proposals. Since its beginnings in June 2015, the campaign has gained support from the wider West Hampstead and Camden communities, as well as other groups across London fighting similar battles against councils and developers.. Members of the Save West Hampstead "Stop the Blocks!" campaign team are also part of the Reclaim London network. |
